Jafza showcases innovative smart services at GITEX

Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), Dubai and the UAE’s flagship trade and logistics hub for the wider Middle East region and Africa is showcasing an integrated package of services and smart new solutions for customers and companies, during the GITEX Technology Week 2016.

In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into a Smart City, Jafza has introduced an array of tech driven solutions throughout the free zone.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation said, “Jafza has always put customers at the top of our priorities and offers new innovative services for investors and traders to carry out their transactions effectively and efficiently in record time.

“The launch of smart services signifies Jafza’s efforts in achieving the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai to transform our services into smart government services in order to achieve the highest level of happiness for customers and investors. We aim to transform Jafza into an ideal free zone through the development and use of the latest applications and become a global knowledge and innovation hub.”

iJafza is a new service provided on the Jafza Mobile App for incident reporting within the free zone to improve the Community. Customers, employees, residents and visitors can now report environment, maintenance and security incidents through the app that is equipped to upload pictures, track locations etc. for incidents. The service is completely integrated with the back-end systems of Jafza, Imdaad and World Security to follow-up and action the report till closure. iJafza is available on iOS & Android platforms.

Jafza has also recently begun using drones to supervise construction sites to oversee work progress and technical accuracy. It also helps Jafza to confirm with safety norms of the structure aligned with the health and safety regulations.

The free zone has also is planning to implement the Automatic Plate Recognition System (APRS), a long-range card reader with access control and high definition CCTV to register the vehicles passing through Jafza gates while creating a comprehensive database by logging the entry and exit of vehicles to the free zone.
