How to set up an offshore company
Entrepreneurs looking to conduct international trade should consider opening a Dubai offshore business. This structure is cost-effective, tax-efficient and provides access to the global market with little administrative work required.
Offshore companies are primarily useful for:
- International trade
- Formation of holding companies
- Owning real estate
- Registration of copyrights and patents
- International consulting services
It is recommended to download the “Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority Offshore Companies Regulations of 2018” to understand the complete terms and conditions of setting up an offshore company in Dubai.
An offshore company is fundamentally different from a free zone company in terms of how it operates. An offshore company is a legal business entity that is set up with the intention of operating outside its registered jurisdiction and/or the location of its ultimate ownership.
An offshore company setup in Jafza requires a minimum of one or more shareholders. There is no restriction on the maximum number of shareholders for this formation type. A shareholder can be an individual (person), a non-individual (company), or a combination of both.

Having understood this, the creation of an offshore company in Jafza needs to begin with the choice of a registered agent. This registered agent will be responsible for all administrative actions related to dealings with Jafza. A list of all registered agents can be downloaded.
Once you have registered your interest and selected a registered agent, it is the responsibility of the registered agent to conduct all communication on behalf of the company.
Please note, Jafza reserves the right to request any additional documentation that is deemed necessary. This will be communicated by the sales and registration team in person or via email.
